It is the intent of the Legislature that no adult education classes offered by the State Department of Education in the public schools of Mississippi on July 1, 1999, shall be eliminated by the State Board for Community and Junior Colleges under the authority vested in this subsection prior to July 1, 2001. From and after July 1, 2001, the State Board for Community and Junior Colleges shall continue to make adult education programs available through the public schools provided that such programs meet reasonable quality standards.
